So me sort of Fiat roadster at the coffee shop. Any idea what model? Original 124?

That’s a ‘ 73 or newer 124 Spider. The double hood bubbles started that year.

That’s the original FIAT 124 Spider. Boy, they were such nice cars back when they were new in the late ‘60s. DOHC engine (designed by Lampredi!), five-speed manual, four-wheel discs, a really nice top, styling by Pininfarina. I know a lot of that stuff is standard on all 21st Century Corollas but in 1969 those were some hot specs.
They were spacious

they were much more reliable than FIAT folklore would have you think.

interesting - I hadn’t really noticed the resemblance to the new 124 grill/nose before seeing that shot.

Amen! A lot of older FIATs were more reliable than people sometimes give them credit for! It was mostly the fact they weren’t as carefully rust-prepared at the factory and the bodywork was thinner gauge so they’d often rust out more quickly in North American winters!

Yup 124 and a beautiful one!
